Total solar eclipse in Tunisia
Experience the Total Solar Eclipse
On Monday 2 August 2027, in the middle of the morning, the Moon will completely hide the Sun over a band about 250 km wide crossing central and southern Tunisia. Inside this band, day will turn into twilight for up to 5 min 44 s.
Time left before the eclipse
Countdown to the start of totality in Sfax (10:08 Tunisian time).
What will happen?
- For about two and a half hours, the Moon passes in front of the Sun: this is the partial eclipse, visible from the whole of Tunisia.
- Inside the path of totality, the Sun is completely hidden for a few minutes: the sky darkens, the brightest stars and planets appear and the solar corona becomes visible.
- Outside the path — in Tunis, Sousse, Monastir or Bizerte — the eclipse remains partial: the Sun never disappears completely.
