About the destination

These major resorts will see a very deep partial eclipse (about 99.9% of the Sun's surface covered), but not totality: the remaining thin crescent is still dangerous and keeps the sky bright. The northern limit passes about 10 km south of the city centres. Less than an hour's drive south is enough: Mahdia gets about 2¾ minutes of totality, Ksour Essaf about 3½ minutes and El Jem more than 4 minutes.
